Yep. Now and then. And there seems to be no rhyme or reason for these changes in perception. Not long ago I was cleaning my computer keyboard. I had out the Q tips and the alcohol and was trying to get into every nook and crevice. I thought to myself, I wish I could see the keys better, and instantly it was as if I was looking through a very large magnifying glass, and I tried swabbing the keys with the Q tip (I could see every spec of dust and dirt) but either my depth perception was off or I was in another dimension somehow, but I COULD NOT touch the keys with my Q tip while this went on. From: "dennanm" Date: Sat Aug 3, 2002 1:23 pm Subject: Super-Real Perception dennanm Offline Offline Send Email Send Email There is one other thing I was going to write about days ago but forgot. Sometimes in RV, sometimes in dreams, and sometimes in life, my perception of something - just a given thing - will somehow blossom into what I can only call Super-Real. (Author Jane Roberts talked about this a bit.) I wonder if this has any meaning, or if it is some random dot of consciousness like sunspots... :-) I live about 700 yards away from a tiny fire dept building. There is a really big light blue water tower right behind the station. From my driveway, I can see it off to the right and back, but it is very high, so combined with the distance, it is not any big deal, and I normally don't even notice it except peripherally. One morning as I got ready to take my daughter to kindergarten, I went to open the truck door and WOW! - I literally stood there with my mouth open. This water tower... I mean... I knew that logically, it was not actually any closer than it had ever been... but it suddenly seemed incredibly "real" and "huge" and "right there in front of me" and "super close" and "super...VIVID". I was really astounded by the change in perception about it. Shaking my head, I get in the truck and start it, and I go back in and get Rykah and we come out to the truck and she stops, eyes WIDE, staring at the water tower with this look of utter astonishment. It was so obvious that she was perceiving it just like I had a few minutes earlier. I said, "You notice it too?! The big blue tower? Does it seem closer to you?" And she exclaims, "Yeah! Wow!" She kept looking at it as we got ready to go. I'd always chalked such things up to only being perception. And maybe they are, and she and I are very close so maybe we were just sharing perception. But it almost seemed like a space-time coordinate difference given that more than one person was experiencing it. And I can find no 'meaning' for such things in my life besides 'was of interest; novel'. Sometimes in RV or dreams, I get a similar experience. In RV, I might be going along typically intangible, and then suddenly, something really gets my attention. I am days behind in practice (have been integrating some tough meditations), so the last time this happened was like a week ago, when I sensed a "sparking out, up, and looking down on" that I perceived as possibly somebody dying (likely multiple) and looking down on a scene. Everything was like in AM and suddenly, that piece of data was in full stereo with Dolby surround sound if you know what I mean. But just for a moment -- then it passed. With this, too (btw it apparently WAS multiple death) I am hard pressed to find any meaning in what is "super-real" vs. ordinary. Just thoughts. Wondered if anybody else has this kind of thing happen. PJ Reply | Forward

The question which comes to my mind is, why did this thing happen? I mean, it did not have any apparent utility, so what do you think is the actual significane of this incident? Also, in what sort of circumstances could something like this happen? Arijit Reply | Forward

From: "dennanm" Date: Sat Aug 3, 2002 4:46 pm Subject: Re: Object Consciousness (::Super-Real Perception) dennanm Offline Offline Send Email Send Email Hi Arijit, I don't know the answer to any of that. But I forgot to make the main point in my original post, which was that IF this is just a "perception anomaly", why did it not apply to everything in my environment? Why ONLY the object of the water tower? Even to another person? When remote viewing was introduced to me, I had a dream where I woke up and The Narrator (a... verbal Aspect of me that narrates sometimes) was saying, "It images itself for you." I thought about that all day. About the concept that the target itself had some degree of consciousness; that perhaps energy loves to be experienced or perceived the way some yogis say that flowers love to be admired and vegetables love to be eaten. Would loving the target in some way increase the chance of, or degree of, target contact? Wondered if anybody else has this kind of thing > happen. Rich now writes: The only thing I can compare with your water tower perception episode is something that has happened to me maybe a dozen times. I'll be looking at someone and not thinking about anything in particular. In fact in most of these instances I'm in almost a day-dream state-- maybe bored. But suddenly the person will appear to be about twice as far away from me as they were only one instant prior. The person's surroundings don't appear to have been altered, only the person--yet they are standing/sitting at the same spot they were before this altered perception occured. Don't ask me how 'only they'--and not their surroundings--can change. I can't explain it...twilight zone. Also, I haven't had this happen to 'objects', only people. BTW, you bring up some really interesting stuff to contemplate. Rich -------------------- Moderator's note: I mentioned that too -- in another post here -- the "zooming in or out of reality" I called it. I consider it another example of the fact that space is as subjective as time. (Which considering space-time are considered one, that makes sense. But most of us don't think of it that way.) -- PJ
