She says that without an alpha "bridge" that theta and delta mind content are not available to the conscious mind. So...extrapolating from that, it would explain how stuff floats up sometimes and doesn't at other times, depending on whether we are actively producing theta, delta AND alpha waves simultaneously. It rings a bell with some research I read about somewhere where 'psi' was observed to occur when all those brainwaves were present. Heck, wish I had a better memory......tend to sort of skim over things like that and when needed I can't remember where I saw it!! Anyone else? Right now, though, nothing is for sure in my mind. Most of the explanations to this question that I've read seem to me to be constructed around popular new-age "doctrine", which seems to me to be just as dogmatic and blindly followed as the theology of any organized religion out there. The scientific neurological tests that have been done, few as they may be, have some credence with me, while dogmatic-sounding beliefs of how the mechanism for psi operates is still in question for me. Sorry for the confusion. Dave Reply | Forward

This is according to various EEG studies made over the last several decades. Anna Wise says that repressed material can show up as a complete absence of theta waves, for example. Alpha and delta waves may or may not be present. The only "given" is that in an awake individual, beta waves will be present. And even that doesn't ALWAYS hold true. :-) Anna Wise's book gave me an explanation of what was going on in my brain when I went through an extended period of physical empathy. I was literally picking up people's physical symptoms around me and experiencing their pain and malaise. This led me to avoid crowds like the plague. It was a very trying time. According to what I recently read in her book, an excess of delta waves can cause an extremely enhanced psychic and empathic state. In the 60's when they were legally experimenting with LSD...one of the first rules was that a guide (a person that was not on the drug but had taken it in the past) was assigned to the first time people ...to remind them ...that they were on a psychedelic/hallucinogenic and to not freak out...because it would fade and go away in a given period of time...flashbacks were said to be common... Most people didn't jump off building or go crazy/die...In fact it was used as a means to treat psychiatric patients at one time and was touted as being quite beneficial for them...I guess the effects were so profound it helped the mentally disturbed get a grip on reality...On the other hand some people obsessed and regularly /habitually overdosed...I am pretty sure these people had some lasting side effects... A persons brain waves have lots of ups and downs(peaks/spikes)...dependant on the person... I think children are into alpha/theta/delta... a lot more than most adults...I know most of the animal kingdom is...except when forced into self awareness... Fright/ flight.. .
