From: "Viv" Date: Sat Aug 3, ?00? 10:03 pm Subject: An experience eclecticviv Hi Kids: I had an experience a while back. Was sitting at the computer, reading posts from different yahoogroups. Started to get sleepy and began to nod out. Each time I nodded out, I started to lean forward a little. A reflex would kick in, and I would wake suddenly, and catch myself from falling forward. After doing this several times, it happened again. I straightened up, opened my eyes. To my right, in front of the printer, a hologram appearing, image of a man's head, was slowly coming up through the desk in front of the printer. I was fascinated, watching this. As his head continued to slowly come through the desk, he lifted his head slightly and looked up. He looked straight at me, and his eyes went wide. He clearly wasn't expecting to see me, and it scared him. I was surprised, that anything I could see through, could see me, too. It was then he sort of morphed back into the desk to disappear. Up to that time I've had, what I call psychic excursions and some pretty good OBE's, but never anything like that. Most people I've seen or met, while in the "ethers",whether I know them or not, aren't aware I'm around. Some will know me, but don't remember consciously, later when I've asked them. There's been maybe three people that have remembered me during an OBE. Nita is one of them. Anyway, I was amazed at this one occurance. I didn't know who this person was at all, and had no idea why I was seeing him, or him, seeing me. Later I did find out. IMO, OBE's, RV and or psi, moving images, seem to frequently have precog aspects. And sometimes it's someone with a sad future event, ahead of them. I wished that wouldn't happen. The loss of muscle tone is a reliable indicator of moving from one sleep stage to another. See http://www.jetlog?4x7.com. (That's jetlog, not jetlag ;-? ) Benn RV in DC

It's a nice product, I'm sure, but don't understand what it has to do with a person's personal experiences on this list. Another thought, "nodding out", is often considered a result of fatigue or a disrupted sleep cycle. But what if it's none of the above. Some of us folks have varying degrees of narcolepsy. Sometimes, nodding out, can occur many times in a day, whether sitting down or standing up. The lack of stimulous to muscles, is a good signal for moving from a waking state to a sleeping state. Also, the relaxed state combined with the sensation of physically moving, (falling forward? ) can be considered by some of us, as a cue for a conditioned reflex, to wake up again. When I was learning meditation I was told to always sit straight up. One of the reasons for this was because when you start reaching the lower wavelenghts of theta* your head would get real heavy and fall into your chest. This can happen either slowly or very sharply. By sitting straight up and being able to feel your head get heavy or fall, it alerts you not to fall asleep. It's the same principle as Einstein holding a rock in each hand. When he started nodding off a rock would fall and the sound would alert him, and keep him from completely going over the border into sleep. Another thing I do to is set my alarm to go off about 30 minutes after I start my cooldown. It goes off before I have a chance to get to theta, but the snooze then goes off every nine minutes. I put a folded up towel over it so doesn't sound like a fire alarm going off and shock me back into beta. It's very muffled, and after a short time you anticipate it going off at regular intervals and just reach your finger over to turn it off. You don't have to concern yourself with falling asleep because you know that if you do it will only be for a few minutes, then it will only take a minute or two to get back where you want to be...if that long. However, since I've found out that RVing in theta is not the norm, lots of people may not give a hoot about this. :-? ) Dave *I'm a skeptic with a scientific mind. I'd like to get wired to an EEG and find out if these are reliable facts or not, but since that's not possible right now, I have to go by other people's authority. But, no matter what the wavelenght, this point about where your head starts to fall is when all the good stuff happens, so whether it's 4.5cps or 8cps or 1?cps or whatever, in my experience, that's where you want to try and stay as long as possible. Just my opinion.
